What is Inspirient, and what does it do?

Inspirient offers a novel way to derive insights from structured data, by automatically analyzing your dataset and presenting you with a selection of derived insights in the form of easy-to-understand business slides as well as supporting files.

Which data can I analyze?

You can analyze any Microsoft Excel (.xls or .xlsx), SPSS (.sav) or Comma-Separated Values / CSV (.csv) file. Direct connections to relational database can be established as part of client-specific setups. See also Uploading Files for Analysis.

Can I upload multiple files?

Yes. And you can select which of multiple files to analyse, e.g., from a ZIP archive, as the first step of Providing Guidance for an analysis.

Do I have to prepare the data before submitting?

Inspirient aims to handle any data you throw at it and will handle the majority of files submitted. However, to maximize the chance of a successful analysis, data that comes in plain, flat tables is preferred.

Which analyses are carried out?

Inspirient’s Base Package comprises all analyses that an analyst would typically carry out with Microsoft Excel, i.e., pivot drill-downs, time series, and correlation analyses. Additional modules exist for audit checks, geo / network analytics, etc. Depending on total input size, the granularity of algorithmically complex calculations may be selectively reduced to ensure timeliness of results.

Can I edit the slides?

Currently it is not possible to customize the slides beyond selecting their visual design. More granular customization support may be added in the future, depending on market demand. You can, however, download the data and recreate the slide in your preferred presentation tool.

Do you analyze Big Data?

Our current theoretical hard limit is datasets with more than 231 = 2,147,483,648 rows. In practise, analysis time increases for larger datasets, i.e., an analysis of a dataset larger than 1 GB will take 1-4 days to complete. The largest practical dataset Inspirient has analyzed to date was 12 GB in size.

Is this real-time analytics?

No. The current focus of this software is not to process a continuous stream of data for real-time analytics. You can, however, analyze small datasets in less than a minute, thus approximating near real-time for certain use cases.
